Whereas the cost of providing content via the internet and social media is low or negligible, the internet and social media offer a versatile and low hurdle platform to offer pertinent content in the local languages of developing countries: the xy2.wiki programme.
A cooperative #tag2wiki business model allows content providers to earn (small) income.
Especially in markets with a content provision deficit such business models should be nurtured so as to allow the emergence of local authorship and a knowledge conversion eco-system.
While there are many options in achieving economic viability for the knowledge actors in a target territory, we list some here;
- social capital wiki with advertisements, and invitations to donate funds for specific local development initiatives
- print & e-book: #tag guideline for the target territory
- e-book; local language guidelines with periodic updates for each of the economic activities relevant in the territory
- provision of training
- curation of specific content streams in newsletter (free or for a fee)
The collaborative use of the #tagcoding hashtags cements synergy across those knowledge conversion activities, and ensures its alignment with the local value addition opportunities, both in the private sector (check #isic hashtags and #cpc hashtags) and public sector ( #cofog hashtags).
The Target territory could be a city, a district, a province or a country, all of which have a #WWlgu #tagcoding hashtag.
The value construction :
- print #tag guideline and online tools as a reference for people living in the territory, to consult before accessing the (mobile) internet, looking for pertinent content, or advice
- e-book guideline and online tools for "outsiders" interested in visiting or supporting people in a territory
- #tagcoding to search (retrieve), contribute to, and engage with the locally relevant content
- #tag2wiki: social capital wiki in the local language, a page for each topic that is relevant for local development:
- for such topic there is also a localized #tagcoding hashtag
- the page holds the minimal available open and curated content
